Description
Pokemon Black 2: Silly Edition is a comedy hack that offers a mix of gameplay changes, quality of life, and dialogue changes to create a fresh new experience of Pokemon Black 2! The game currently is beatable when it comes to gameplay and trainer changes however the Post-Game is still vanilla post-game for now regarding trainers. Dialogue changes stop a lot sooner at around Badge 3 due to a greater focus of dev time on gameplay changes and the sheer quantity of dialogue needing to be changed. However, thanks to gameplay being primarily done, dialogue updates will be rolled out sooner than you may think!
Feature & Changes
Story & Dialogue
- All Dialogues Rewritten: Nearly every in-game dialogue is being updated for a fresh experience.
- Re-contextualized Story: New character personalities and story framing add depth to the existing narrative.
Gameplay & Difficulty Modes
- Challenge Mode Available From the Start: No need to unlock it! Jump into the harder version right away.
- Challenge Mode Fix: The Black 2 glitch (where extra levels didn’t add stats) has been resolved.
- Balanced Difficulty Options:
- Normal Mode: Harder than vanilla Black 2 but more manageable than hardcore hacks.
- Challenge Mode: Truly difficult, designed to test experienced players—great for Nuzlockers!
Pokemon & Encounters
- All 649 Pokemon Catchable: Every single Pokemon from Gen 1 to Gen 5 is available, with unique and thoughtful encounter locations.
- Fully Reworked Pokemon: Every Pokemon has been redesigned from the ground up—everyone is viable!
- Incredibly High Wild Variety: Diverse encounters throughout the entire game for a fresh feel in every route.
- Early-Game Super Rod: Fish from the very beginning! Great for Nuzlockers and early team variety.
Trainers & Gyms
- Custom-Themed Gym Leaders: Gym leaders now reflect new personalities and strategies to match the revamped story and mechanics.
Quality of Life Improvements
- Free Rare Candies: Grab them from the lower cashier at Aspertia City’s Pokémon Center.
- Early Lucky Egg: Leveling is smoother from the get-go.
- Buyable Items:
- Evolution Stones, EV Training Items, Heart Scales, Shards
- Consumable Competitive Items (e.g., Focus Sash)
- Consumable Berries available in Poké Marts.
- Reduced Grind: “Silly Edition” prioritizes getting you into the action quickly without heavy grinding.
Changelog
v1.2.2
- Rood and Charles’s fight have been made easier.
- Clay’s Ludicolo uses Bug Buzz instead of Quiver Dance on Salty Spitoon Mode
- Marlon fight has been made harder on Weenie Hut Jr. Mode and much harder on Salty Spitoon Mode.
- Colress team has received some improvements to no longer be as ground-weak.
- Shauntal’s team on Salty Spitoon Mode is now a doubles battle!
- Black Sludge can now be available in the sewers regardless of season.
- You can now sell your Big Nuggets at Pokemon Centers! This improves money management for the game letting you buy more cool stuff!
- Lots of Pokemon Balance Changes! I focused mostly on greatly reducing setup move distribution on a majority of Pokemon, primarily those who really don’t need it! While this does make the game harder (on top of the newly buffed late game fights), it will help encourage a variety of new strategies that take more creativity. With the extra items/tms you get from 1.2.1 this should enable some really fun late-game strats without making the optimal outcome to always cheese a setup sweep and pray.
v1.2.1
- LOTS of modifications to field items! Overall more interesting field items throughout (No more constant Hyper Potions pickup for example). There should be a higher distribution of more competitive item throughout the game. This makes exploring more rewarding!
- No NPC item gifts have been modified however (Castelia Hunt still only gives you a Rare Candy).
- Lots of TMs have been re-distributed and now ALL TMs can be found in the main game! You have way more TMs to work with throughout your course of the game.
- Experience a harder Skyla/Drayden/Marlon fight on Salty Spitoon mode! One thing many people have reported is that on Salty Spitoon mode the difficulty gets a lot easier post-Clay due to the boss battles not quite being able to catch up with your increased level of power and EVs so their modifications should make the game more challenging but still fair!
- Drayden is also harder on Weenie Hut Jr. mode!
- Colress fight has been made more difficult (this applies to all difficulty modes).
- A few buffs to some moves! Mostly in the accuracy department but some moves like Shadow Ball have received a higher base power!
v1.2.0
v1.2.0 is a semi-Major Update that includes 500+ Re-Written Move Descriptions!
- 500+ NEW MOVE DESCRIPTIONS! They should all be done but I’m sure I’ve missed a few so lmk which ones I’ve missed!
- Both houses in Floccesy Town have hidden grass! They share the same encounters however, but regardless nuzlockers get to have even more options Pre-Cheren!
- Juniper in Silly Edition’s introduction has new dialogue and better jokes!
- First 4 Gym Battles have been adjusted to have less status. Confusion was an incredibly common status in Silly Edition early game, especially on important trainers, so their adjustments should fix that. Roxie also uses 15 IVs on all her Pokemon instead of the usual 30 also making her fight easier!
- Skyla’s Ace in Salty Spitoon mode changed from Rotom-Mow to Rotom-Wash to make Fire-types less dominant in her fight.
- Cheren Split now has a few routes that can be “repel manip’d” due to slight changes in levels. So far it’s only for Cheren split only.
- Potentially fixed some crashes on some trainers in some emulators, most notably the second trainer in Skyla’s gym.
- Colress/Ghetsis/Final Rival Fight/Elite 4/Iris all have about 2-3 increased levels to help make the level caps more manageable for players. All other trainers in their split have the same levels.
- Potions and Revives have been made much cheaper in Pokemarts! Now you can buy way more without burning your wallet!
- Shauntal on Salty Spitoon mode SHOULD have the correct levels and stats on her Rotoms now!
- LOTS of Pokemon Balance changes, some improvements to speed tiers as more Pokemon now have 100 Speed or higher that was designed to be a bit speedy. Lots of early-game Pokemon have been tweaked to be more viable as early-game encounters and some broken mons like Magikarp and Arbok received much needed nerfs.
- Quite a few moves received Accuracy buffs to make them less weirdly risky. Also some move balance changes done in general, read the balance changelogs for this and Pokemon Balancing! This time they should loosely be in Pokedex order making it easier to navigate!
Creator Note
While there may be a 1.2.1 or something for stuff like hotfixes/small balance improvements I’m going to eventually start slowing down updates as new dialogue for the main campaign takes priority now! However now with all the new move description dialogue there should be more than enough extra dialogue and jokes to hold you over the course of your run for now!
Emulator Compatibility
This game does not work with the DS/3DS Twilight Menu. You will crash in summary screen! This game does however work on a large majority of emulators no problem (Desmume, Drastic, MelonDS, Delta Emulator, and more NDS emulaotr all proven to work!). The game does however work on a R4 card and it may be possible to play it on real hardware if you can get it playable without using Twilight Menu!

- DarmaniDan for giving feedback on my spreadsheet. I also used one of his template tabs for connecting Pokemon sprites to wild encounters on my encounters doc!
- Hzla for making Pokeweb, before FrostGen5Tools I used Pokeweb and he’s goated for making a cool tool like that.
- The many playtesters on my discord server! Especially Tireman, Dan, PaipoPaipo, Oka, The Goose, and Tisq Birque! They were the main playtesters and helped keep me motivated to continue deving!

- Pleonex for the TINKE application, that was pretty useful for making some edits thank you!
